Set Apart by Keith Smith

We are Gods Set Apart people!
We are His special possession!
This means that we are Saved, Consecrated, and Reserved for His use! This is why we must not misuse, misapply, ignore, or neglect His calling on our lives and what it requires.
Because God has called us to be His Special, Set Apart, Holy, and Useable people!
Set Apart by Keith Smith

Have you ever asked yourself this question, “Why do I do what I do?”
Or, maybe this one… “Why am I so different?”
How about this one… “Why can’t I be like everyone else?”
I have asked myself these questions numerous times.

Here is a small portion of what I learned when I asked these questions and started to search the Bible for the “reasons” as to why we are called to be “different” or “separate”.

Deuteronomy 14:2 NLT says, “You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and He has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be His special treasure.”

Now, I know this is referring to the nation of Israel; but, look at what Peter wrote to the church in 1 Peter 2:9 NIV, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” Sounds kinda like the verse I mentioned from Deuteronomy doesn’t it?

We are Gods special possession!
His Special Treasure!
This concept of being set apart reminds me of my moms china cabinet. I know it’s funny to think about that, lol. However, in this China cabinet, there were all these beautiful dishes, silverware, knives and bowls that we almost never used. One day I asked her, “Momma, why don’t we use those all the time?”
She replied, “Those are being saved for special occasions only.”
“Why?” I asked. She smiled, “Those are my special dishes and I don’t want them to be ruined by overusing them.”

Remembering that conversation, I began to think about how God sets us apart for a specific task and use. Sometimes God won’t allow us to be used the way we want or the way we think we should be used because he doesn’t want us to be overused, abused, or mishandled. When I looked up the phrase “set apart” I noticed that it means: consecrate, reserve, or save. Also, I noticed that it is the exact opposite of ignore, neglect, misapply or misuse.

As momma always told me, “You don’t use my fancy towels to clean up the dirty floor!”

God says, “My special people are to be set apart for my use only.”
You are…
Loved!
Called!
Chosen!
SET APART!
Anointed!
His!
Blessings!
